My D975XBX2 system has stopped working. I changed a BIOS setting and when I rebooted, I was greeted with a black screen. Neither the reset switch nor power cycling had any effect. The CDROM light flickered, the floppy remains dark, and the fans all power up and go to full speed.
There are no beeps. In fact, I've never heard any beeps from the on-board speaker now that I think about it.
My first guess was that my change to the BIOS somehow made the system unbootable, but now I'm not so sure. Every time in the past that I've made some change to the BIOS which was unworkable, the system recognized it and gave me a chance to correct it.
Any suggestions as to what to try next would be greatly appreciated!

Intel D975XBX2 system stopped working -- advice wanted
Solved!
After chasing a few bad ideas to ground:
- using a BIOS recovery floppy -- didn't work; system never accessed it.
- using a BIOS recovery CDROM -- ditto.
- replacing the floppy drive -- well, it didn't seem to be working.
and finally, trying the BIOS configure strapping -- Tah Dah! I've got video. The last thing I changed was the memory reference speed. Set it back to default and we're back online!
Now I have to put everything back together. Maybe my fight with the demons of stupidity will help someone else.
