Intel D975XBX2 problems...USB header (#1 of ??)

Post by djvabc »

I'm having troubles with the 2 USB headers on my board, they don't work at all. I've plugged an internal Flash card reader and front panel access (from my encloser) USB to these headers and nothing. The USB ports on the back of the board work fine. I've played with the BIOS settings but nothing seems to work (not sure if I'm even in the right area). Any sound advice would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, this is one of many issues so I'll be posting more later.
Thanks!

Have you connected the cable correctly? They are supposed to be keyed so they can fit one way...(notice a pin missing in the corner!)
Some internal cables will allow you to connect them the wrong way 'round.
Also make sure ALL USB ports are enabled in the Bios!

I don't have a BadAxe board, so I dunno if there's any specific issues with USB (I doubt it though)

Thanks! I was careful with the connectors and even connected the extra USB (rear) connectors with no workie. I just changed everything associated with the USB in the BIOS and still not working. I appreciate your input/advice though.

Well, looks like it was a driver issue of some sort. It's a bit confusing though since my USB ports on the back of the case are working. I used the Intel Express Installer CD again and presto! Funny, it didn't work the first time I tried it.
Thanks!

My USB key works (plugged into the front ports). Read your post and got it to work on both sets of front usb ports.
