jschoef wrote:Intel just released a new bios and it seems good. When I overclocked from 1.8 to 2.8ghz, it ran fine and i rebooted multible times including a cold reboot. The best thing was when I went back to default settings, I didnt have to clear cmos. I got a bios error though like I used to get when I overclocked...but all I had to do was go back into the bios and click save again and it booted right up to my defaults.

Can you list your bios settings. I'm also looking for a modest increase in cpu speed (to about 2.8GHz) until I can get better cooling.

Well it was 400 x .7 for my e6300, 667 for ram....but it wasnt stable running orthos for 8 minutes.

(this is a little vauge being it was a while ago)
I then did one quick setting change and raised pretty much everything up 2 places (except the ram and pcie) from the default settings and had the mutliplier at 400. I ran orthos and it was stable for over 10 minutes. After that, I shut it down, returned to defaults, and went to bed. Im currently not overclocking...I have no need to and when I do, I will need to get a better HSF.

I am using the latest one now...but the one that had me reinstall everything was 1 or 2 bios versions ago.
Negatvie on the crossfire. I am running XFX PVT73GUGD3 GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card.

Lets put it this way...using Vistas rating system I was getting a 5.0 and I now get a 5.4 since the newer versions of the bios came out. The lowest score for the 5.0 was the processor e6300 and now its a getting a 5.4. As for the graphics, it became noticeably smoother in Doom3 with the upgrade.

aleph6 wrote:Here's the scenario. On Saturday, I decided to try overclocking my system (D975XBX2 BIOS 2507, E6400, 2GB Corsair XMS2-6400 Xtreme Performance Memory at 5-5-5-15 @ 1.96v). After a few false starts, I ended up with a "successful" overclock: 8x333==2,664 CPU, memory at 667 4/5 == 836. I let memtest86+ run for 3 hours -- no problems. I run 2 copies of prime95 for 2 hours -- no problems. It's late. I turn the system off, button up the case and move it back to its home beside my desk and go to bed.

Sunday morning, I power it on and am greeted with the "your system seems to have failed to boot with the current BIOS settings, press Y to enter setup or N to try again." (approximately)

Rats!

I set everything to their non-overclocked settings and went to work.

Any ideas how to make the overclock permanent?

Separate but related note: any way to access the C1E setting without setting the jumper on the motherboard?

thanks much,
aleph6
same issue as mine

it seems that anything beyond bios 2333, the bios "watchdog timer" have a problems w/ oc.

just switch the jumper to recovery, enter bios, disable watchdog timer and you should get those annoying message.

works for me and now i'm running bios 2674

hope this helps

Trying to do overclock on E6300 using:
7x433
ddr2 2.0-2.2v
MCH 1.6v
FSB 1.3v
CPU 1.4v

wont work

I think I'm doing something wrong in the memory. Using corsair 2x1gb 6400 800mhz w/ 5 5 5 12

I tried varying the voltage to no avail. When I tried messing with the frequency i had to reset the pins. Tough with fatty hands, but i used a fan 3 prong adapter on 6 inch wire and its cake to change that cmos pin now.

I tried the OC from this link.

Can someone please post pictures of your exact bios settings with your overclock. I can't even OC 10mhz wtf am I not doing. I changed all the above settings to same exact as tweak towns ( the link above ). I didn't change anything else.

Understand I am new to this as well. Is there some "secret" command to OC for this board?

I found out about turning off watchdog and C1E, but it still wouldn't OC, no matter what I did.

Found out about turning off EIST, disabled that too. Still cant get 1 friggen mhz. I'm numb, was so easy on my GA 965 DS3. Seems noone is giving out any info on how to OC this board. Scowered the net for days and still nada.

At the rate i'm getting responces, I can RMA this and get a GA965DS6 by the time i figure this out.
