D975XBX2 drive and XP problems

First of all, hi to you all - i've just joined this forum after pulling my hari out!!

I have just finished building a PC:

D975XBX2 board
Core 2 Duo 6700
2GB of corsair ram
1 x 80GB samsung SATA

My question is this, I tried to install my XP disc and it returned a no drive detected error on the XP installation setup.

I went into the BIOS and the bios can see that there is a disc there.

HELP!! I have a second 250gb SATA drive that I ws going to use as 'my documents'.

I had an ASUS AMD board before this, and that was a breeze to install and configure XP onto.

I tried to put my old PATA drive into the machine as the slave of the CD as there is only one IDE controller.

The copy of windows I have is XP Proffessional and I have SP2 on another cd.

Where am I going wrong?

where do you have the SATA cable plugged into? Which header number and color?

I have the 80gb sata on SATA 0, and the 250 in SATA 1 on the black controllers.

Is the Sata controller set to "IDE", "ICH", or "RAID". If you did not use the Intel Controller Floppy (F6) and the controller is not set to "IDE", then XP will not see the drive.

the problem is you dont have sp2 slipstreamed into the XP installation disk., it is required with this board.
