BIOS 2618 has not fixed the issue of "Keyboard Not Detected" after cold boot.

WinXP Pro 32bit.

same problem here, but it seems they don't consider that as an issue ...

Something odd i noticed, when there's not "too much" time between 2 cold boots, i don't have any pb. And also, my kb does work before the "BA" code page.

did you try with another kb ? cause i hadn't have the chance to try an USB keyboard yet ... ah, and i would add to the issues list the fact that my USB webcam is not detected until i unplug it :/

Hey Intel! Use a PS/2 keyboard while farting around with the BIOS updates on this board, I double dog dare ya!

I don't have the PS/2-keyboard issues, but PS/2-mouse problems sometimes after the system was powered off. Maybe I would have PS/2-keyboard problems too if I wouldn't use a PS/2-mouse!?


What are your BIOS-settings look like? Do you have "Use Automatic Mode" (under Advanced -> Drive Configuration) disabled?

Here are my BIOS-settings. Do you get these delays (with the "94" or "BA" display) too?

I still just can suggest you to directly contact the Intel-Support Team of the 975XBX2. They need to know it. Give them as much details you can. Thanks!

I had the problem that I could not use my keyboard after a cold boot with XP64, but after a restart it always worked.

With the new BIOS my problem is gone, and I have not changed my drive configuration.

One annoying problem still remain, the BIOS cannot be updated from XP64, and I cannot use the cd iso image, because the CD driver on the iso image does not recognize my Plextor DVD SATA drive as a CD - it is connected to the Marvell controller. I can only update my BIOS from floppy.

ok, then this option seem only to cause these boot-delay. lets hope it's not a hardware design bug which causes the ps/2 problems!

I just built a new system and am having the same issue with the keyboard not being recognized. I have noticed that wiggling the KB connector when the system boots will sometimes work. Has other people noticed. Once the KB is recognized it works fine.

Unfortunately this problem has been with me since day 1 under multiple BIOS versions and settings.

Bah! and Intel wants to do away with IDE? Damn! I was going to get that same drive to replace my 7 year old CD Burner and 5 year old DVD Rom.

I think thats just a coincedence Steve. After a cold boot (Power off) then on, BIOS does not detect KB, upon reboot it (second POST) it finds it no problems.

BTW mine is just a standard M$ "Natural" PS/2.

Just for fun I re enabled auto mode, still same thing. I thought Intel was above releasing bug ridden bioses (proper PS/2 KB Support too much too ask?), puts em in the same camp as asus and via imho.

Only more expensive, traditionally.

Edit: I looked at the back of my keyboard it say's "Natural Keyboard Elite" Requires +/- 5v @ 500ma.

I was thinking mabey the MB doesnt supply this voltage at boot?

Edit #2: one more thing that ticks me off, my old socket 7 (P5-A) was able to start from power off state with KB/Mouse and this thing isn't? (without ViiV) LAME!

This thing has more updates than World of Warcraft

Has anyone confirmed the an USB connected keyboard makes the problem go away. If that's a workaround I may just buy one, although you would think intel would make it work, they have for years.

They would rather you spend the extra cash instead of them I'm sure.

can confirm it here too. ps/s mouse still has problems (not detected sometimes after shutdowns).

there could be problems with this! the last time i've contacted them via this i've only got replies by an automatic process. my problem-description contained "spd" and the automated answer then just gave useless suggestions about memory and spd. so i wonder what happens now if you write about ps/2 problems ...
