Post by SteveS »

Can anyone confirm that the express update for the bios will work with the VISTA OS?

Mine didn't. See: http://forums.legitreviews.com/about8457.html

I emailed Intel about it and got this:
Hello again, Brent,

Thank you once more for contacting Intel(R) Technical Support.

In regards to this situation, please be aware of the following:

- Some problems have been reported with the Express BIOS updates using Windows Vista(TM) 64 bit.
- Other BIOS update procedures (that are not operating system-dependant) have been fully tested and we have confirmed that they work fine.
- Please refer to the following websites for more information:

Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you need further assistance.

Sincerely,

They don't mention when they will get it fixed, but on my system it was an error that the bios update .sys files weren't properly signed. I ended up just using bios update from a partition running xp.

I haven't installed Vista Ult x64 on my board yet. I'm still using XP Pro but upgraded the BIOS to 2634. I'm backing up some stuff before I do a complete reformat of my two Raptor HDs. I still thinking about reformating just one of them and keep XP Pro on the other as a backup in case I have to go back. I'm pretty much close the getting all the software drivers/patches for those XP programs that I plan to bring over to Vista. I'm just waiting to see what the ZoneAlarm people are going to do. I not going to wait for Trillian.
