Hello Legit peoples (why does that sound strange)
ive been recently overclocking my pentium D 805 on my intel D101GGC board. i get it up pretty high max was 3.7ghz and at 3.8ghz it crashes.

but when benchmarking i notice this.



ive been told by a leigt user that it is due to Speed Stepping.

one main question How do i turn it off?

Just informed you will need everything else of mine.

Cpu: Intel Pentium D 805
MotherBoard: Intel D101GGC
Memory: 2 X DDr 400 512mb
Graphics Card: Nvidia 6600gt 256mb
PSU: Super Flower 400watt

Someone have that motherboard? D101GGC or equivalent bios that they can show where the option for speedstep is at on the bios? I don't have a 775 socket to do so. I tried to read the manual for the motherboard on intel site for you but it has no bios info, only hardware info for 60 pages.

according to intel that board does not support speedstep

the D102GGC is the lowest number shown as supporting enhanced speedstep, support for regular speedstep was discontinued in 2002

there does appear to be a newer bios (I think) which may or maynot add that feature
If it is supported and turned on in the bios
then it is controlled via the windows "power properties"
setting the computer to "Always on", disables speedstep.


it also could be throttling due to heat

I went into the "POWER" tab and found these 3 things
ACPI suspend stant
Wake on Lan from S5
After power failure
(i remembered these off my head so correct me if im wrong)

their the only ones i found i went into hardware monitoring and found that my CPU was running at 70 Degrees Celcius unclocked but when i use PC Wizard 2007 it says its only running at 26 Degrees Celcius so one is wrong.

I new i would have overheating problems so on Friday 6th of april i ordered some thermal paste and a Thermaltake sonic Tower. i was hoping it would come today but i forgot its easter down here(australia).....

so when i get that ill try that.

Well after doing more testing while on 3.4ghz with throttle control going and PC wizard 2007 to see what it claims that my CPU is running at i noticed no jump in the "CPU" temperature it claimed that while on 3.4ghz and doing superPI while calculating 2m it stayed at 28. it wasnt untill i took a closer look at the other ones i noticed that the gauge written as Power/Aux Temperature went from 60 - 76 in a very short period of time.

if this is not the case i might give up on OCing.....
