Sneak Peek at Upcoming E8600 Article
Hey all, just thought I'd drop a small teaser for an upcoming article I'm wrapping up for LegitReviews.. this was mild to say the least
These chips are little monsters on air cooling and extreme cooling, highly recommend them for the avid overclocker.

That best have been subzero cooling, 1.8v on 45nm!?!?!

Hate to say this, but are you trying to kill the E8600 by the time the review's over? xD
Nice overclock you got there man. Looking forward to the review. Oh, and welcome to the forums. Shoulda welcomed you on the 9600GT review that you did.

Re: Sneak Peek at Upcoming E8600 Article
My Intel E8400 and E8500 on water suck compared to that.... lol
Very impressive cooling setup you have and very interesting results... 6GHz on a 45nm dual-core processor that costs $279!!
i saw coolarer hit 5GHz on air cooling with a E0 stepping back in June, so I knew these suckers were going to be killer. He was running 1.60VCore though, which is pretty nutty for air cooling.
What is the most voltage you would run through an E8400/8500/8600 on water or air cooling?

Re: Sneak Peek at Upcoming E8600 Article
I just run them up to stock (Max) voltage myself the 45nm degrade to fast under high volts. I have bumped them to 1.45 for a test or two but with vdroop they read under 1.4. (Same mobo he's using the ep45-Extreme series, good boards) I pulled a 4.5 on the e8400 stock volts with Thermalright Ultra 120 and a high pressure fan.
The Ep45t-Extreme is coming in this week, running the same setup but running a triple rad water system on it and watering the chip set. I wanna see if I can get a 1:1 with ddr2 1200 on the ep45 and how high I can get on the ep45t.

Dammit Gomeler, don't make me go lusting over LN2 pots, I could spend too much on hardware as it is, without getting the bug for clocking everything to hell and back as well!
If this is the level you are willing to go to for just one review, then I look forward to seeing lots more of your work ^_^

1.4v to 1.45v is the maximum I'm comfortable with on aircooling. It's funny, I have no qualms throwing 2 volts into a 45nm chip on LN2 but I tend to baby my chips on air, typically running sub-stock speeds. My QX9650 runs at 2GHz with 1.05v on the rare occasion that I use it as a desktop chip.Apoptosis wrote:My Intel E8400 and E8500 on water suck compared to that.... lol

The hard part is sitting down to write the articles. Forcing myself to not fire up the rig again just to finish some reviews for LR that I have piled upDMB2000uk wrote:Dammit Gomeler, don't make me go lusting over LN2 pots, I could spend too much on hardware as it is, without getting the bug for clocking everything to hell and back as well!
