Intel Core i7 Processor Names - 965, 940 and 920
All Core i7 processors have a TDP of 130W and an on-die shared 8MB L3 cache. Core i7 is not intended for multi-processor motherboards, so it has only one QuickPath interface and Core i7 is a single-die device: all four cores, the memory controller, and cache are on a single die.
Core i7 965 Extreme Edition - 3.2GHz with 8MB Shared L3 cache and a 1x6.4GT/s QuickPath interconnect - $999
Core i7 940 - 2.93GHz with 8MB Shared L3 cache and a 1x4.8GT/s QuickPath interconnect - $562
Core i7 920 - 2.66GHz with 8MB Shared L3 cache and a 1x4.8GT/s QuickPath interconnect - $284

Re: ntel Core i7 Processor Names - 965, 940 and 920
That's some deja vu with pentium D naming.
I see they found some way to make their EE processors more special again with the increased QPI bandwidth.

They're quad-cores, but like Phenom instead of the C2Q - all on one integrated chip?
Sweet!

Not a concern to me, I'm only going to need 3 things: i7 CPU, LGA 1366 motherboard, and a triple-channel memory kit.
~$600-$700+ I think

What's the word on when these hit the street?

I think I'll hold off til they get a few more cores going. Plus I just don't feel right paying less than a grand for a new processor.

Re: Intel Core i7 Processor Names - 965, 940 and 920
lol, How much has the AUD depreciated?
I'm sure that is just some ridiculous price the site is using as a placeholder, and when it's actually out there will be lots of other places with the proper prices.
