And a Guide for howto install XP using F6 method
Look here

Hope this helps

Remember to post back (after your fragging match with BF2 :))

Just installed Motherboard Monitor and its telling me that the case temp is 26C and the Cpu is also 26-28C which seems good to me.

So later on today im gonna try to overclock then i will leave prime95 on overnight

Sweet! :)
Congrats!!

I didn't realise your cpu has a FSB of 533Mhz! (133Mhz)

That means you can run your ram 1:1 (same speed as FSB) with no probs....

Hows that GFX card? Runs sweet doesn't it :)
After your finished tweaking and such.. Post some 3DMark scores and the like....

It runs sweet

Nicest card ive had in a while

Getting great fps in Call Of Duty and CSS and im running BF2 on FULL graphics with no probs and it looks amazing.

In the bios i have the ram set to auto i think.

Very impressed with the ram and the Hard drive is amazingly fast.

Im chuffed.

You should set your ram to 333 in the bios for your cpu, this will make sure it runs the same speed as your cpu fsb... this always give best perofrmance with INTEL cpu's!

Your ram can do 200mhz as stock speed
your cpu runs 133mhz or now 145.. so you don't have to worry about ram for now..(your actually underclocking your ram!)
Your absolutly safe (where ram is concerned) to 200Mhz... That could give you 4.2Ghz.. But unlikely the cpu could do that..

I can see you getting higher! :)

Try 153 fsb.. That will give you 3.2Ghz..

Remember if you take it slow, watch your temps (60c), volts(no more that 1.525v for 24/7 use as asus overvolt when idle). temps always come first! @ ~70c your cpu will Throttle (reduce speed to lower temps), after that it will powerdown.

Test with prime95 for say 30mins. then increase some more.. then when prime95 fails.. then drop by 10mhz and test again, when you think your stable test for @ least 6-7hrs...

Ken

Ps. you said the Raptor is great... Question, Do they make much noise compaired to normal drives? I'm considering one, but i can't stand noise!

It can get a little noisy when scanning for viruses etc but in general its fine
If you have a nice case its fine

Tested with prime 95 for about 8 hours overnight on monday and everything passed

Game temps on the cpu are about 45C max which is good and idle the cpu goes as low as 28.

Might try 3.2 later in the week

Sweet!

Your temps look very cool 8) BUT....

I forget to tell you.. Asus motherboard cpu temps can be off by 10C !!

prob ~7C on average (from what i have read)

You should overclock with that in mind...
With my mobo, after i updated to the latest bios, my temps increased by ~7C. This must mean they corrected it somewhat... Try updating your bios.. See if you temps go up. this might give you a closer guide..

Set your max to be 55C is what i'd say.... still gives your 8C to play with..

Voltage gives more stability @ higher frequencies, but increases temps most!!
Only add extra if unstable..

>>What voltage does cpuz report when you run prime95???

your screenshot says 1.44 but under load that will drop..
You can increase the voltage safely @ the start.. upto 1.425v Intel even design the cpu to run withing a 5% margin.. Some chips, the rated variance in voltage is even greater.. (still 1.525v max for air cooling when overclocking)

Luck foward to see your results!

ok.... so. I have a P4 2.8E Prescott that I would like to overclock.... more.

I also have:
Corsair 512kit TwinX 200MHz
Corsair 1Gbkit TwinX 200MHz
500W X-Connect PSU
Asus P4P800-E Deluxe

I currently have it overclocked to 245MHz using the FSB in the bios. The review that LegitReviews gives on overclocking this specific CPU says they got it up to 270MHz (http://www.legitreviews.com/article/102/1/). But when I go to 250 the monitor stops getting a signal after the DOS boot screen. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT:So now it gets to the window load screen(the one with the bar that moves across) and stays there untill I hit the reset botton.

Welcome!

It sounds like either you need to add more volts to the cpu, your ram needs tweaking or the temps are too high!

What temps are you getting?
What vcore are you using?

I suspect it's the ram.......goto the bios, advanced chipset, set SPD to manual.....then set timings to 3-4-4-8

Welcome again

Thank you for the welcome. I wouldn't worry about the temp. I just got a new Zalman CNPS9500 today. The temp is currently 120F at 255MHz. The Vcore is at 1.550V, which is what was recomended in the review. I'll try that ram and let you know. Thanks for the help.

hmm, no good on the ram. It seems no matter what, when I set the FSB to 260 or higher the computer starts acting up.

You have to bear in mind that not all processors are the same when it comes to overclocking, some will do better than others.

But as I'm not an expert overclocker, there still might be something for you to try that can boost your OC by a bit more.

Dan

**Edit**

Have you tried raising the Vcore to 1.6v? It may need that bit extra juice to squeeze performance out of it! (I'd wait till someone confirms that its OK to do this as i dont want to kill your PC :P)

Are you sure your temps are ok with the highest stable OC you can do?

are you using both kits of ram @ once?

test with 1 stick using the 333MHz divider.....then increase the FSB ~5MHz at a time....test with 2x instances of prime95 running for ~10mins, then reboot and increase 5MHz and repeat....
You can also test with lower voltage, some chips give more with less.

Once you find the CPU's max, then test the ram. you can use the boards max voltage for the ram (2.85v)

also increase the chipset voltage a little...
