I was wondering when you are overclocking a processor (i think i'll be looking into OCing my q6600) what are the main things that increase the temperature. I.e. when you overclock is it mainly the voltage.. and therefore if the voltage remained the same would the temp increase at all?
Also whats the general increase in temp for an overclock? like 10C or what? ( i know it all depends on the type of processor, motherboard etc so i have a q6600 and bad axe 2)
Overclocking temperature changes?
Its usually a pretty direct correlation between mhz and heat. So there will be pretty much the same amount of heat added for every so many MHz you overclock.
The added volts will also jump up the temps a bit more when you have to add some.
To some degree the resultant temps will depend on your coolers ability to dissipate the heat given to it, and with having the thermalright U120X you should be fine for a good way.
