Intel Confirms Dual Core & Looks Into The Future w/EMT64

Post by Apoptosis »

I just got off a conference call with Intel dealing with their Q1 2005 position and got some updates for all of you guys. Looks like the 6xx series of CPU's are about out for consumers and are coming out with some new features. A larger cache of 2mb and EMT64 support will be found on all of the 6xx series CPUs. Intel also noted that the 6 series will include Enhanced Speedstep, which should lower power consumption. Intel PR mentioned "saving electric" and "runs cooler" a number of times when talking about Enhanced Speedstep Technology.

* notice how Intel's slides call the 64-bit processors (single core) the:

64-bit Intel Pentium 4 6xx series

Kinda puts to rest the use of Pentium VIIV for the 64-bit processor line... maybe.
