overclocking q6600?

Post by martini161 »

im in a delema with my new rig. my original ram was bad, so i had to rma it, but before i did i was able to do some mild overclocking. now that my new ram is here, i cant do any overclocking, and i know its not my cpu. (i know it should probably be in the memory forum but i think it'll get more views here) i have tried running linked and unlinked fsb and memory, synched and unsynched. i have made sure all the voltages and timings are right, but it just wont boot. it boots fine at stock though. any ideas?

Unlinked should be the same as this, but what happens when you run your memory at a lower divider, like 667 instead of 800 and then do a bit of mild overclocking?

sorry about not getting back to you dan (been busy with the holidays and such lately) but i figured this one out on my own. i uped the voltage a bit and ran it unlinked, then put a 1333 fsb strap on the northbridge

I do like it when people can fix their own 'problems' as its less head scratching for me ^_^

Good luck in further overclocking.

I know this doesn't help, but I cannot resist...

When you name your rig after a washed up old actor, what do you expect?

Quick say sorry to chuck!

He's sorry Chuck, he didn't mean it.

Please don't roundhouse kick him into the future.
