The Q6600 Overclocking Thread
Re: The Q6600 Overclocking Thread
I promise I've have some results later this week :p
Re: The Q6600 Overclocking Thread
I just started priming 3.5 on 1.45v now. I could boot 3.6 like that and prime will not run and it's not stable. The BX2 did the same thing with my Xeon. I really don't think it's the chip. I am not buying a P35 right now because I want to see how it compares to X38. So I suppose it's going to be 3.5 until I upgrade my motherboard. F'n thing won't stay stable over 390 with quad for anything.

Re: The Q6600 Overclocking Thread
I ditched the BX2 and bought a cheap P35 motherboard for now. I got the Abit IP35-E from Mwave for 70usd after rebate.
One thing I do love about this board is it properly initializes my GTX when I restart, or that is I don't have to turn my monitor on and off to get a signal. My BX2 did not do this nor did many of the other 200+ usd mobos I've tried.
I also love the voltage options. They are off the charts. You can go way higher than I would dare with things like CPU, Ram and NB.
My early opinion is it is fast and stable.
I am using a Q6600 G-0 in it. I'm going to run a bunch of tests over the next few days. The first thing I tried was a default run of 3dmark06.

BTW this board does fine with WD 74Gb Raptors. I've got two jacked into it now.
I got the E because it was so cheap and I wanted to toy with a P35 until I switch to X38 and Penryn down the line. So far, I like it a lot. If Penryn and X38 don't beat what I have now well, I may just keep my setup as is.
I am cooling the Q6600 with a Thermalright ultra extreme and two Sharkoon silent eagle fans in a push pull configuration.
