Quad or Dual Core??

Im finding that my e6300 is often reaching 100% usage, and i really dont enjoy waiting for it to finish doing its thing...well im in the market for a new processor(at least when quad core prices drop), and im wondering, is it worth it to buy a q6600? or should i simply save my money and buy an e6600 or e6600+water cooling? for under 600(cad). I mainly use my computer for gaming/surfing the web and from what i can see most games do not even make use of dual cores... would it be a good investment to buy to quad core to "future proof" my system as much as possible or should i just go with the e6600?..

I'd go with a dual core.. i have a quad and it runs pretty hot meaning that you are more limited in your overclocking ability and with games currently i would say the speed boost on the 2 cores offers a bigger benefit
By the time the game really utilise the 4 cores (not just pass some of the work to them but balance equally between all 4) you'll probably be upgrading your machine anyway

Watercooling ftw.
Maybe even just watercool your current C2D and push it to the max?

There's no need to watercool the chip set.
Get this one instead

Then if you want to watercool the GFX, buy this aswell (or later on)

Don't forget to get the optional Swiftech MCW60 HOLD-DOWN Plate & Retention Hardware Adapter Kit for NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Video Cards as the one that comes with the block will not fit 8800 series cards.
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php? ... e=Swiftech
And you'll also need these for your 8800 serise card to properly cool all the other chips that the stock HSF cools.
Swiftech MC8800 SMC RAM/MOSFET/IO Heatsinks *Requires A GPU Water Block for Complete Cooling*
The G80 boards require 13 of the ram type sinks and the MCP60 block + sinks linked to ablve only ships with 8, leaving you 5 short.

Seeing as you need to get the optional chip cooling kit, save your self a bit of cash and get this version of the MCP60 instead of the one with the sinks included.
