The CPU wouldn't do 3.6 with stock vcore and I haven't tested how far stock will go yet.

More to come.....

Just a word of warning, from what I've seen with my core and what I've been told, the G0 stepping have a Tjunction of 100c and therefor CoreTemp is reading 15c low. ............... You are getting mighty hot unless your core is different from mine.

3.8 is a no-go. I'll just have to get this under water then

That is a interesting life choice, and it definitely frees up a lot of money spent on; road tax, MOT, repairs, petrol.....

It all makes sense at how much money you have to spend now :P

The Swiftech GT arrived this morning ;)
If I have time, I'll install it and finally I can see what this chip can do 8)

Hey all, I'm new to overclocking and just built my first rig. Here's what I have:

Intel Core Duo E6850
4Gig DDR2 PC6400 RAM
RAID 0 250gig 7200 RPM SATA HDD
Dual 640MB Geforce 8800GTS

Now for my question. Right now I have the processor overclocked to 3600MHz with an idle temp of 50 degrees, load temp hits around 60. FSB is currently 1600MHz with 9x multiplier, running at 1.6V. Everything runs great as is, however, if I bump anything up even slightly past the 3600 mark, Windows bluescreens me or locks at load. Any tips?

What cooling are you using? How are you measuring your temps? You do know that coretemp doesn't work correctly with the G0 stepping chips? You have to add 15C to the recorded temps. So if your reading 60C under load, that's really ~75C. It sounds like your temps are the problem.
What RAM are you using? (make & model) Your 680i board uses very tight timings by default. You may need to increase some of the misc. timings. Also 4GB (4x 1GB) of ram will need a slight bump in voltage to be stable when running ddr800 or above.
Can you post a screenshot of the memory tab & the SPD tab from CPUZ?

You could also try to run two sticks to start with. Then try see how far the E6850 can go. This chip gets very hot once you go above 3.6GHz and if your running 1.6v
Are you sure you need 1.6v? I wouldn't use 1.6v on a C2D chip unless it was under water and even then, it would want to be clocking to 4.2GHz or above for me to justify such voltage.

Welcome to LRForums BTW :drinkers:

Ps. I'll update this thread with deatils of my OC, it will be a while as I still haven't re-built it since getting the water block................I need to take a break from PC's........reading and talking about computers everyday is getting a bit much for me
I'm thinking of heading to New York or Amsterdam(age) for a week..........I need a holiday :-({|=

Just so you all know, there's a new CoreTemp out that reads the G0 stepping cores correctly as well as a new CPUz that corrects the problem of the vcore not reading correctly.......... 8)

Google is your friend to keep you updated on the current OC/health monitoring software.
