I am looking towards a Intel CPU for my gaming computer.
My budget is around 200-400 for a 775 socket CPU.
That comes with heatsink, and fan.
I am looking around for parts now at newegg.com and tigerdirect.com
Not sure what is the best deal for what I am looking for.
Can anyone help me?

E6850

Pretty much a very nice CPU there.

Then you will want a nice aftermarket cooler:

This is solid performance:
TT Big Typhoon

This is massive, but is pretty much the best air cooler out there at the moment:
Thermalright u120x

But if you were wanting to bring your overall price down below $300 (inc aftermarket cooler) then you could get the E6750 instead.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 15017#spec This is definantly your best choice. greatest bang for buck out there, you will be up to date for years to come

as for coolers http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835128015 this will put you $20 over budget but is the best,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835103017 this would work, but it is not nearly as good as many other systems that cost only a bit more. if you want air cooling, then i agree with the guy above me, tuniq tower or simalar heat sink with a fan. good luck!

Probably true, but the extra heat from the quad cores is a PITA, and can limit the overclock. I know you suggested some basic watercooling kits to deal with that, but top end air coolers are probably going to work better with the massive heat output than basic water kits.

@fatefirst: If you do decide to go Quad Core, you will need some seriously beefy cooling. The u120x will probably be your best bet, but it is a huge cooler, so be warned :P

If it were my choice, I would go with the E6850. At least thats part of my next build. The last worry I need is overheating.
