need help ew processor in old GEN 4

well i brought a q6600 to put in my Dell XPS Gen 4 its already equipped with P4 EE 3.7 added new ram and threw in a 8800GTS now theirs one thing i cant do cant find a way to take the heat sink off so i can replace the processor only way i can see is basically breaking something does anyone have any advice on how to replace this processor and heatsink. worst come to worst i do what i alredy have planned new case PSU and BOOM theirs my new comp but i`d rather wait to do that ANY HELP IS GOOD THANKS TO ALL

XPS Gen 4 does not support Quad Core. Its a 925XE chipset. It does not support Core 2 Duo in any sense.

so lga 775 wont work with my motherboard? i thought it would support as long as the pin number was the same

nope, not with Intel. Certain Chipsets support certain chips, and even with revision of motherboards don't support certain chips. You need a 975, 965, X38 or P35 Chipset board to support Quad Core.

so basically i should just go ahead and buy a new motherboard? which motherboard do you guys prefer and that will work well with overclocking i was think EVGA 680i but if anyone has better suggestions please i love advice

well you have a multitude of issues with that. For one I'm not sure if the case you have is ATX standard or some propietory dell standard. More than likely your power supply can not handle a quad core. And I know for a fact that the cooling system is not compatible.
