one last q6600 question

does any one know how high a v-core a q6600 can take? (assuming heat is not an issue) i know intel recommends 1.5 but with my oc i cant boot the os at 1.5, but i can run 24 hours of ubcd cpu stress testing, and i think a little bit more voltage will help. my mobo goes up to 1.875 volts but there is no way im gonna even approach that

1.6v is what's considered the max for 65nm chips from Intel. You WILL need H2O for this though and I wouldn't run it 24/7.
The max I'd goto with a qual core based on 65nm is about ~1.45v, unless the returns are super, which I doubt.

so if i have h2o can i run 1.6 for a benching run? still have to see if it would even boot windows tho. i hate my mobo so much right now

For benching....yes, but It would want to be a killer water cooling system to run it with all four cores loaded 24/7
Since the quads are just two dual cores on one package, you run the risk of killing it!
Don't get greedy with voltages, you'll regret it in the long run!

ok,i guess ill just stick to 3.0 ghz till i get a better chipset. i tried 1.55, and that would load windows any way so im not gonna try 1.6
EDIT: At this point i really dont think the voltage is a problem. the quad should probably be able to do 3.2 with 1.55, and all the other volts (nb, sb, vtt, hyper transit) are maxed and it still wouldnt load windows. oh well

Sorry I can't be much help, but I don't have a 680i board or a quad core chip.
Have you tried to increase the CPU VTT setting? You don't necessarily need to increase it to the max, each chip is different, and responds differently.
Another setting is the linked/unlinked setting. You could try linked instead, but lower the SPP<->MCP Ref Clock as you increase the FSB
May by someone else with more experience can chime in
