E8400 OC world record!

my fellow Hungarians (I'm half hungarian :P ) just made an OC world record of the new E8400 processor. it seems the E8400 is an OC champion and will be the favourite CPU of those who like to get the most for their buck and are on a budget...

it seems this new 45nm, 3Ghz CPU can easily break 4Ghz on air because of the much lower temps then its 6xxx 65nm predecessors... and there is the added bonus of the SS4.1 instructions and 6MB of L2 cache :prayer:
more here: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/di ... fdale.html

Newegg has it allready for less then $220: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819115037

5.4ghz is kinda nuts.
I'm still a skeptic sorry.
I don't see that happening anytime soon. It might I'm not saying 100% can't ever happen.. I just don't think it will be any time soon.
Your Mhz is lined up on your 2 bottom figures. The FSB and Buss Speed. but, the core speed Mhz is shifted to the left. So to me looks like a photoshopped pic.

maybe... but the second half of my post is true and that is more than enough for me to get this CPU for my next build...

Congrats to your fellow countrymen!! That is quite an overclock and will be tough to top by much with the FSB being so high. I don't think we'll see too many higher overclocks than that for another chipset generation or two.

Herc, that's a CPU-z validation screen, not likely that it's fake as I've seen a few 5GHz clocked E8400's.

I dont get it, whats the point of having a 101581571GHz CPU ? If the rest of your system isn't as amazing there is no real benefit to increasing the speed.

Wait until to chips with a 10x or 11x multi come out ;)

Yeah but they won't be E8400's ;) There are some QX9650/9770's close to 6GHz. :prayer:

I just checked and it's true. all you have to do is go to the official validation page, enter the validation ID and you will get the official validation page showing the result.

damn that is kind of nuts. I doubted it till I heard some people say its true. I've never heard of it being clocked that high so it seemed far fetched

yeah, but dry ice isnt used in everyday systems [-X

I've been reading around and there seems to be a lot of folks breaking the 4 GHz point with high-end air or water cooling................

i was just talkin about his setup, he makes it sound like he got that on Air

IMHO, there ain't no way in HE!! he could do that on air cooling, high-end or not.................

I didn't say you could get over 5Ghz on air. I said you could break 4Ghz with a good air cooling or water setup...

Wow, that is a great oc...perhaps it's time for me to upgrade to Intel, now who can I pawn this AMD crap off too? :P

ok who has one of these?
I want to see a benchmark from stock to the full OC. I wanna see if I should get one.
SOMEONE PLEASE POST a pcmark05 test

::waits impatiently:: lol I am really debating buying one based on a few threads I've seen but, never seen a benchmark to make me go for it

I wish I would have done a bit more research prior to buying the E6750. Don't get me wrong, the E6750 is a great CPU, but the E8400 is a beast and only $30 more...thats a mean overclock.

hm, just notice the link under the CPU-Z validation. there is plenty of benchmarks there or just look more up on google :)
