E8400 vs Q6600

I'm waiting until mid-March, but if the Q9450 doesn't get released by then, I'll be getting either of the above. Question is, which would be better for video encoding? I realise that media encoding is one area where quad-cores shine but how would the E8400's higher clock speed (and higher overclock) and SSE4.1 affect encoding time? I know that codecs/encoders which make use of SSE4 extensions are currently limited to alpha and beta stages as of the moment but it shouldn't be too long before they're implemented in stable release versions.

This question is for the rig in my sig. It will only be used for video encoding and as a file server. No gaming whatsoever. I won't upgrade the processor after I've gotten either the E8400 or Q6600 (or Q9450 if it gets released) so that will be its final configuration. Next time I buy a processor would be when I build a brand-new rig in 2~3 years.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions in advance.

The next article Legit Reviews is going to pubish is on the E8500... In it we will have the Q6600, E8500, Phenom 9600 and four more CPU's in the charts. I did some Sony Vegas 8.0b testing, so that might interest you.

I might post it up later today if I can get the thing cranked out... It's my bday today and everyone under the moon is calling me.
