Im getting an E6750, after a friend of mine is upgrading i decided i would upgrade my CPU too so i ordered a E6750 and i should get it tomorrow!!
just to see how much my old Pentium D 805 was bottle necking i will be runnig numerous benchmarks on it before i install it, just asking, do i have to reinstall windows? i cant really be bothered backing up more then 150 gigs.... One more thing is this CPU's FSB of 1333Mhz compatible with my Intel Dq965GF??

Have you tried to OC that Pentium D 805? I heard it's an excellent OC CPU.

Hate to throw a spanner in the works, but your board only officially supports 1066Mhz Core 2 duo's.
Maybe it will work with overclocking? Or work unnofficially
Sorry to be the one to tell you...

well if theirs not a 100% chance it will work i can change it now.. ill quickly find a different one and change it...

Ive overclocked the pentium D 805 on my old motherboard it over clocked very nicely to 3.6Ghz!! but it still wasnt the best....
By order i meant i have some 1 picking it up for me, i have asked them to either get the E6850 or the E8200. But they both have 1,333mhz FSB, but the store hes going to only seems to have ones with High FSB so if it doesnt work i will have to get an El cheap motherboard until i get some more money..
But i think im going to be loving this new core!

just need to ask this again to make sure its clear.
Is their a definite answer saying the CPU will work in this board or not?

Looks like support for 1066FSB CPU's only

i jsut did that too

well it looks like out of the cheap mobos i have a choice of
ASUS P5GC-MX
GIGABYTE GA-945GCM
XFX NFORCE 630i 7100
im leaning towards the Asus, mainly because ive never had an XFX motherboard before... its up to you guys tell me quickly!

XFX NFORCE 630i 7100
The others use the 945 chipset which isn't the greatest
The XFX board will also allow you to overclock a little ;)

Well i have a very small range of boards to go for, since cash is a bit strapped, unless i magically come up with $300 in the next 30 mins im going to go with the XFX

turns out i They didnt have the XFX board in stock so i got the Gigabyte, my new setup will be like this
Intel C2D E6850
GIGABYTE GA-945GCM
2Gb DDr2 667Mhz (i think)
XFX xXx 8600GTS (alpha dog edition)
SATA 80Gb HD
IDE 160Gb HD
I have also run a few benchmarking programs these below.
Super Pi (512kb)
Aquamark
3dmark 05
LightsMark
Does anybody know how to open the 3dmark file? i hit 'saveas' which saved it as a .3dr file.
I hope this setup all goes well... Especially since i had to buy a new motherboard.... But trust me thats the last time i buy intel Again...

Congrats on teh upgrade,
You need to submit the 3d marks to the web to be able to see the scores (or buy the full version). Sucks I know.

ok took a while but Dan has told me how first these are the settings i used.
I use the res at 1024 by 768, AA at 8X, AF at 16X, so the settings i used where very demanding.
Before i put in the new cpu i got 6543
and after i put in the new CPU i got 8779
i think the jump of 2236 points is awesome!!

I just fitted my new Asus Star Ice and at first i noticed that it was running very hot, load temps of 60oC then i realised that my Vcore was at 1.4!!! i dont know how it happened but it was running at it (according to CPU-z). So i very quickly powered down and change the Vcore to what im pretty sure is the standard Vcore of 1.35.
all i can say is Phew!!

CPUz doesn't always read the voltage correctly, but was it set at that in the BIOS too?

yes i checked it in the bios before i changed it, what is the stock Vcore1.35??
*********EDIT************
Now i have jsut noticed this my ram should be running at 333mhz (orthos is open so speedstepping stops)

Does your board support 1333Mhz FSB via overclocking or natively?
It looks like the board is treating the FSB as being overclocked from 267Mhz FSB.
So the 667Mhz RAM divider does (333 / 4) * 5 which equals 416Mhz.
Normally it would be (267 / 4) * 5 which equals 333Mhz.
Basically to get close to your rated 667Mhz speed you need to run the RAM at the 553Mhz divider.
Do you know if the RAM is stable at that frequency?
Dan
