I have some old Pentium D's and they have a great OC potens on new mobos... 2 months ago i pushed a PD930 3GHz to 4,2 GHz stable and works great, 5,1 GHz unstable but posts easy and takes Super Pi without any error or crash...

Super Pi 1M=25,297
Intel Pentium D 930 [email protected]
OCZ Reaper 2Gb 800MHz DDR2 CL5@906Mhz 4-4-4-15
ABIT AW9D MAX
Laing DC12-Zalman ZM WB3 Gold-AG1/4-11/8 UV Load: 5,1 GHz/50°C

Wow 1.7vcore? I assume your setup is water cooled, otherwise your chip won't last very long.

Nice overclock though. Maybe if you dropped it down to something like 4.9Ghz or similar then you'd be able to run it at that speed 24/7. Why don't you just grab yourself one of the newer C2D? You should be able to get it to run at something like 4.5Ghz easily.

Thats like cooking eggs on an open flame partner.

5.1ghz is floor stomping mad. Way to go breaking the 5ghz barrier.
