E2140... or E2220... same from OC point of view?

I was going to buy E2180 for my new machine but it struck me today that all these dual core 65nm 1G cache FSB800 processors are exactly the same as far as overclocking is concerned. That is, if I plan to overclock, and I do, I can as well buy E2140 as E2220 and they should overclock exactly the same.

Is that right?

I'd say the E2220 should overclock higher especially since it has a high multiplier so it won't require a board that can push high FSB.

I'd probably go for 3.2GHz with either. I have seen a nice test with 394x8 = 3152 which as far as I understand (and I'm certainly not an expert) is advantageous in that a RAM can go 1:1, that is 2x394 = 792 for a DDR2 800Mhz.

I just built a 2180 on a P5K-E haven't had a chance to play with it much but I left every thing auto and bumped the FSB to 300. It booted right into XP and ran. I was kinda surprised.

I've had the bus up to 435 fine but at like 438 I hit a FSB or chip wall. It runs a little hot, I tested a ThermalRight water block and a NexXxos water block on it and it ran as hot as my q6600 quad under water so if you get one and wanna clock get a great after market cooler for it. Stock cooling it idled at 38, OC idle was 42 and was getting toward 60C over clocked load.

Heck of a bargain for $69 bucks.
