Guess what I was just holding in my hands...
Yes, that is a real production wafer of Intel Nehalem, now called Intel Core i7, dies that would have been loved to be cut and packaged for my PC. Anyone with some free time want to count how many cores are there per wafer? Remember don't count the ones on the edge that ran off.
Here is a closer look for those that want to actually see each of the four cores per die.
Call me an Uber geek, but that is sexy!

Re: Intel Nehalem (Core i7) Processor Wafer
that's how they make the die's? just a big wafer of a bunch of them, then cut it up?
if it is, it seems so archaic

How would you like to have that mounted on the wall? Make one heck of a conversation piece.

Looks like around 220 dies per wafer...
What was the approximate diameter of that wafer?

Did you smash it like the guys from OCC did with one of the Core2 wafers

Why did they even let him in the factory, he doesn't have a clue what he did.bubba wrote:Did you smash it like the guys from OCC did with one of the Core2 wafers

They should have billed him for it (even if it was a dud wafer)
How old was he supposed to be?

PRETTY!
I don't really understand what I am looking at, but it looks really cool. Those are some really small cores.
