Noob question alert!

I just got an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 for my new computer, and given that it's summer right now and I've never dealt with quad cores, I'm pretty worried about overheating.
I remember reading somewhere that the optimal temperature for my processor is around 60 degrees Celsius, was I hallucinating or is this true? I ask because I installed Rainmeter with a core temp plugin and also Speedfan and both programs say that my core temp hovers around 45 - 56 C, depending on how hot the room is. Of course, it's gotten as hot as 98 F in my room, since we have no air conditioning. Should I start to worry?
A bit of info: I'm using air cooling, I have 5 motherboard-controlled fans and two going directly to the power source, and I have a ZeroTherm heatsink attached to my CPU. If you need anymore info, I'll be checking up on this periodically. Thanks in advance for the help!
