Hi,
I was looking at this Dell Vostro 1200 laptop with the processors being:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Pro T7250 with No Camera & Standard Palmrest (2.0GHz, 2MB Cache, 800 MHz FSB)
Isn't 2MB bit small cache? And 2.0GHz very small speed by today's standard?

it's actually slightly above average(not much of course) for a laptop, mine is a T5750(2GHz, 2MB Cache and 667MHz FSB) and is better than many out there, it's no alienware, but its a solid laptop
it all depends what you want to use the laptop for...

You have to also consider the form factor of the laptop.
The faster/larger cache chips generate more heat and use more power, and in a small laptop, it doesn't have the battery capacity to be useful with a power hungry CPU, and it doesn't have enough space to have a large CPU cooler (to stop the CPU cooking itself/the laptop).
So the bottom line is, all laptops have to compromise on something, and in this case it's not top end specced so it can fit in the form factor.
