I have a home work question that asks:
What is the maximum amount of physical memory that an Intel Xeon processor can access?
a-32gb
b- 564mb
c- 1gb
d- 64gb
I am going with either a or d but not sure what one. i have been googling xeon specs for a half hour now and cant seem to find anything. I figured i'd come to the experts..

Well I'm not positive about this but here's what I came up with from a google search:
"Xeon processor 5300 series and Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor ... DDR2 memory technology,
with a maximum capacity of 48 GB. .... Can relieve I/O bottlenecks and free CPU for other processing tasks to improve network performance. ... Access to larger physical memory space reduces load on the system. ..."

well i appreciate you taking to time to look that up. I found the same thing before I posted. Well since the 48 is more than the 32gb listed for the answers i will just make an educated guess 64gb is the max.

It might be more of an OS question.
Here are the memory limits for OS

I think it depends on which Xeon and the memory type also, older one i had was a 32GB max and i think one of the 5000 series Xeon was 144 or around that.
