processor and mother board in budget

hye,
I want to upgrade my computer now. i can spend $ 250 for processor and mother board only. rest of other things i got. most of people told me now days go for amd, it is better now then b4. would you friends guide and advice me in my budget which processor and motherboard i should buy for me? i dont mind with amd if i got good performance and result but i never used amd, i always like Intel. there are many motherboard available in market for amd and intel, and i cant decided which one. most important is it must be in budget.
