going from dual core CPU technology to more is possible and has already been done behind the scene. Increased costs and yield issues will keep this from being mainstream in the near future.

Also when they say four or eight cores, could really mean two or four real cpu's with HT, or 2 or 4 real cores with 2 or 4 additional specialized cores (like the CELL architecture).

I'm sure INTEL could intergrate 16 cores into a cpu, but the die size would be hugh and cost....

I doubt anything said in this years IDF will be reality for a few years..

Don't get me wrong, I use intel, Just skeptical.
As long as they get thier power leakage under control, Thats what killed the prescott... 4Ghz anyone? ESTI (enchanced speedstep), was/is their only answer...
