Rumor has it that this processor will be released at Computex 2010 and will be the first unlocked socket LGA1156 CPU. This means that this CPU will give end users full control over the processor frequency ratio for the best possible overclocking results. The TDP of this CPU is 95W and your board will need a bios update to work. The CPU will work at 2.93GHz, the same clock as the Intel Core i7 870, and the rest of the specification will be identical to Core i7 870. The only difference is that Core i7 875K processor will be completely unlocked when it comes to the base clock and the multiplier so it will be easier to overclock.

I see someone playing catch up with AMD. Hehehehe. It's nice to see either way though.

I wonder if they will refresh the i3 530 with an unlocked multiplier when they do the higher end ones?

quite amazing to see Intel will come out with unlcoked cpu as they are so firm on no oc for such a long time. It would be interesting to see if this is just a fluke or real or that some limited quantity.

Very nice. I wish I had a P55 board to run one of those with.

honestly, I think all core i7 should be unlocked. for those who paid big bucks for them that's at least what intel can do to give them the best oc potential.
