E5520 VS X5570

Post by FLN »

I am a video editor, moving from SD workflow to HD workflow. I am purchasing a refurbished HP z800. I will run w7 with Adobe cs5 Production Premium. The computer will have Quadro FX 4800 video card. Does anyone have an opinion on the processors - E5520 or X5570? I am leaning toward the X5570. Is that overkill? I want to be able to edit the highest level of HD with the most ease. Please advise. Thanks.

CS5 is threaded for multi-core processors, so...

Intel Xeon Processor E5520 runs at 2.26Ghz with eight threads, four cores, 8MB cache and 5.86 GT/s QPI..
Intel Xeon Processor X5570 runs at 2.93Ghz with eight threads, four cores, 8MB cache and 6.4 GT/s QPI...

both have the same number of threads, same 45nm lithography and cache amounts, so go with the faster of the two if money is no issue.
