problem w/ installin radeon 9600 to intel D865GBF

I was hoping some1 could help me with this prob that I am having. I have an onboard video card and recentlly purchased a sapphire radeon 9600 atlantis card. it meets all the specifications with my computer but for some reason when i install the card the comp will reach its load up stage and will freeze right there and never start windows. once i take out the card and run it with its onboard video card it works fine. could it be my video card is not working or is there something wrong with my AGP slot. i have also read the manual to my mother board and also in the BIOS there is no disable option for an onboard video card, it should just be a plug and play. please help.

Your right it should be plug and play, have you tried to use this card in another computer. That would be my first suggestion, try it in another family members, friends or anyones computer just to make sure it will boot for them. Did you get this card used/referb? If so that could be part of the problem.

no i havent tried it on another computer, and i will try that out. also is there ne way for me to check if my agp slot could be shorted?

well if the card works on another computer then that is a concideration, the other is voltage, or driver issues.

try lookin in the bios and try to disable the onboard video...i had problem similar to yours and i did that and it was fine....

lol..just read it again and it said u had no option to disable it...rather shifty if ya ask me

my first guess would be the BIOS setting for the onboard VGA. If that is good to go I'd check the card yet to make sure it works and is not Dead On Arrival (DOA). If the board doesn't have any options for the AGP slot then you might want to see if there is a BIOS update for your motherboard.
