Hi there. Am trying to modernize my resources on an old PC. (Dell Dimension 2400) It's got an Intel 845 Chipset. The processor is a Celeron running at 2.4 gHz. Clock speed 2400 mHz, socket 478. Bios has been revised to A05. FSB speed 400 mHz. I upgraded the RAM to 2048 MB. Mi video can display 1600x900, which I love! The question is: Which processor would give me a noticeable performance improvement? Thank you in advance for your tips.

you can't get much more on the 478 socket, maybe a similar spec'ed Pentium4 but thats about it, and isn't much of an improvement itself either
best way to improve the PC would be to reinstall windows, after time windows slows down substantially. If it is a computer used daily and never reinstalled before then it would seem like a new computer
also, I have a pentium III 600MHz which runs XP PRO SP3 just fine with 512MB RAM, isnt a slow computer unless you try to watch videos lol
