Ivy Bridge CPU's

Post by DragonFury »

I heard over at Toms Hardware that the IHS on the IVY bridge is using Thermal Paste not soldered on like previous CPU's. Which makes me wonder on once the IHS is completely removed how would the the temps react? article HERE

Now getting the IHS down low enough that's the Easy part, also being able to use the CPU after the IHS is also an easy fix. The issue is I need a IVY bridge CPU to torture LOL......

Toms is just getting around to posting that news on May 2nd??

Geez, we had that up on April 25th - http://www.legitreviews.com/news/12964/

The Intel response that I got when I asked them on this is shown below:
What we’ve been saying—

“different package thermal technology coupled with higher thermal density of process shrink”

Also, Tj spec has gone up on Ivy, so hotter temps, but more headroom to peak temp
