hello all, I'm not so clued up when it comes to computer terminoligy and thankfully have stumbled accross this forum in my quest for clarification of my following question, I would be most grateful if someone could tell me please - what are the main differences between an Intel Pentium Processor & an Intel Celeron Processor??

Price and Performance, the Celeron cpu is cripled, the remove cache, reduce the speed, and front side bus. This leads to an overall lower performance chip, and thus lower price for you.

thanks infinitevalence, is there any chance you could tell me what a Pentium actually does? or possibly how a computer would react if it were removed......is the pentium anything to do with the computers memory?
sorry for all the questions am keen to understand.

Pentium is the brand name of intel's CPU family
The CPU is the working part of the computer (100 million + microscopic transistors on a single chip) without it the computer does nothing.

thanks T-Shirt, what general and most pertinent purposes do the microscopic transistors serve? e.g - power management etc.
