E8500 Jumping Frequency!

My E8500 is clocked 3.8ghz. However, the clock speed on both cores jump to 7ghz (give or take 100mhz) for 2-3 seconds every 15-20 mins under high load. I've been noticing that it has been causing my system to freeze when doing so. I use HWiNFO64 and log the readings and the last reading before freeze is always when cpu is at 7ghz  so why and how does this happen?

There is no way. Grab Open Hardware Monitor and/or CPUID HWMonitor to verify or disprove.

I'm telling you that it's probably a bug in HWiNFO. Sometimes it shows my core temps at 0 degrees. Grab another app and see if they say the same thing.

I'll take it your on about my desktop. It's made using rainmeter . I download skins that I then customize to report whatever I want it to. If you want more pictures let me know and I can start a thread on it. I have changed this current one in the pic as to get rid off the line charts. The tabs across the top link to folders. The games and programs tabs now opens a separate drop down box with thumbnail links to program and games within :)
