Screw Joo Pentium D!

Post by Tech_Greek »

Punk Proccesor is killing my score!

Is there anyway to use a better Pentium D in here? It's a Gateway GT5014 with a 2.8 Ghz Pent D 820.

It may be more the fact it's a GATEWAY (emachine) then the processor itself.

Usually, it's the CPU plus the FSB. The CPU could be rated to run as fast as 800Mhz or more, but the FSB on the MOBO could be slower like 533 or something. Check your MOBO documentaion.

It has a 800 MHZ FSB...

And my Gateway is very sturdy...sturdier and more stable than 90% of people's 'custom' pcs that I work on! :finga:

Yes Gateway's are stable, but giveup some speed optimazation for that stablity.
Best bet would be to check the gateway site for (expensive) upgrades, ie find other models with the same MB, that have fast processors.

What do you mean? Mine has Vista on it so there's nothing left of the OS from Gateway.

Pretty much everything has been gutted in this machine except the DVD-RW/DVD-Rom/Mobo/Cpu.

I can't take another 775 Socket Proces and drop it in the slot?

It's a D945GCZ Motherboard I think according to CPUID
