The Tuniq Tower seems be the one to get!

You've got your Tuniq Towers, your Thermalright Ultra-120s, your Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX's, your Noctua NH-U12's.....any of those should be able to drop regular temps 5-10C, and keep them low even when overclocked. They are all silent as death as well (except for potentially the Big Typhoon, you can crank it however high or low you want).

i'd reccomend the zalman cnps9700 or 9500 (slightly smaller) its quiet unless you want it to be normal which case its moving a lot of air but still drowned out by case fans. I love it, it looks cool. unfortunatly though I did cut my hand on the fins :axe: . other than that though its easy to put on and i'm getting good temps. it works for multiple socket types.

I am running the Freezer 7Pro in an Antec Sonata2 case on the Intel 975xbx2 MB on top of an e6600 C2D. All steel case keeps it quiet even when I use the Intel utility to run the fans up to max.

Over Clocked to 3.25 the 7Pro still keeps the chip at 58C without kicking the fans up to max. My only complaint is the size, but it works great so it is hard to complain

But just like anything else what some like others will not.

Steve

Additional Note.

wow thats a great price! is it difficult to install? what are your thoughts on the new thermaltake that is almost exactly like it?

also, I have a similar setup: xbx2, c2d6700 - what settings did you use to get that overclock?

I would get the Zalman CNPS 9500 or 9700.
Accorind to benchmarks this IS the HS to get.
I used one a long while and I have to tell you
I managed to run my Pentium D 805 at 1.46V (though it probably never was at 1.46) at 3.8Ghz with temps maxing out at 60C full load
You will tell me its high but remember PDs run hot plus an over clock of 2.6 to 3.8 is pretty huge.
Anyways that or the Gigabit G-Powerpro.
I've heard it performed even better then the CNPS9500 and costs a lot less.

IMO Tower coolers cool the CPU very well but I prefer a downward pointing sink that blows air across the mobo as well which helps to cool the vregs, mosfets and (depending on the board layout) the northbridge if it is passive., here is three sinks I am considering to purchase one.

Thermaltake Big Typoon
Silverstone sst-nt06 120mm

or this new one- Enzotech Ultra-x

Zalman 9500

I have Zalman 9500 on my current set up: E6700 @ 3.0ghz as well as my old AMD 4800X2. Works well on both systems and keeps both CPU's nice and cool on air. Can't complain about the effectiveness given the price and ease of installation. Newer model is 9700 and is supposed to be better.

Tuniq Tower 120 on an E6600 (inside an antec nine hundered) overclocked to 3.2Ghz and it idles at ambient temperature or a tick less.

Everyone has put up most of the good suggestions but you might also want to look into the Scythe Infinity as well. If you're going for more low noise vs. best performance, the Scythe Ninja will allow you to use a very low RPM fan since it has widely spaced fins made for low airflow.

Tuniq tower does seem to be the performance king these days though.

Which one of these is small? Obviously not the tuniq tower or scythe ninja. I don't want to worry about having more torque on my motherboard than on my car because my computer sits upright
