For a 2.4 Ghz Socket 478 P4?
I followed the instructions on artic-silver.com, but it doesn't seem like there is enough on the chip.
Also, I was wondering, how many applications can you get out of a 3.5 Gram tube of AS5?

put about as much as an uncooked grain of rice on it.
You can try spread it out or just leave it, the pressure from the heatsick and the heat will make it spead out over the cpu naturally.

the site states 15-25. Depending on the size of the core. So bet around 20 if you put a little extra
mine has done more than 10 i think and its bit less than half. If you dont build pcs regurarly it will last you for a long time.

Credit cards are great for spreading out and then smoothing if ya put abit too much on .

wow, thanks guys, I don't know much about AS5...
I can't believe you get 20 applications in a tiny syringe. I used a credit card to clean it off, I never thought to use one to put some on.
Thanks for the help guys.

Yes, about a grain of uncooked rice.
The layer should be so thin that you can see the CPU lettering.

i think better leave the pressure from heatsink to spread it.if using credit card,i think will trap some air space which will not a good heat conductor

just for giggles, what happens if you put say... an amount the size of a skittle on the cpu?

hhhhahahahaha
It depends on how fast you push the cpu back in.
or something like that

i've always put about 2 grains of rice on it just cause of how thick the output from the tube is.. never really worried about it cause i assumed that the excess would just "squish" out..
i'll be more careful on my next build
