Got a E6420 from the Egg the other day . My concern is (althogh info is very limited) , that the L644 chips are not oc'ing well . Before I attempt to open my package , I'd like to see if anyone else may have the same batch number and how the overcloking results are .
Please post any results .
TIA ;)
E6420 BATCH L644's ; anyone else have one .

Luv to give ya good oc'ing numbers but Iam having problems with an OEM purchased MSI P6N SLI-FI . Bios does not seem to run correctly (even with latest update) and after running the board for a week , as of yesterday Iam now getting a wierd loud static sound comming thru the pci bus ( a bad resistor or cap ??? )Sula wrote:Post your OC achievements
I can tell ya , that my chip does 3gigs with stock voltage right out of the box , but due to problems with this OEM board Ive yet to do due any further testing or true overclocking as of yet .
Going to send the board back for a RETAIL boxed of the same and go from there .
*UPDATE*
Well , new (retail) P6N SLI-FI board (w/beta bios 2.21) but not much change in the overclock department . 3050 @ stock volts , but going any higher requires some good voltages . Seems my chip kinda sucks except my temps are nice and low (28c/idle 44/load) . If I try for 3200 Ive gotta put 1.425+ to it , which is not bad but definitly not what I's hoped for . I guess Iam better off then others reporting not being able to go past 2800 or even geting close to 3000 at all with any type of voltage increase .
Ive not really tried to push this chip any further for now and probably wont till I invest in a better cooler . The system runs fine where its at , but being a true overclocker for 14+ years , I AM abit disappointed , but its all part of the game .
On a side note , this board (although very stable) , still has some bugs in the bios that really need to be addressed , so that too it probably is hindering my oc'ing . Since this is a new chipset (650i) , I can only hope bios and drivers will improve and then too my future overclocking with this 44 chip .

I've had great luck with the P6N series boards, I got a great suicide OC of 3.7 out of it with my little ole E4300.............
The guys over at the [H] seem to be getting fairly good results out of the E6420 chip, but I haven't been following the thread all that close.
