i have the agp model... it's pretty sweet, but i'm thinking of selling it whenever i upgrade so i can get two 6600gt cards in an sli board (maybe... still not sure about that)

i dont know 2x 6600gt's are good and all but if your going for SLI then there really is not much point in getting anything less than a 6800GT. you will end up spending $400 on 2 6600GT's when you could get just as good if not better, because of the 256mb, performance on the X800XL.

PCI-E is faster but there is not much difference between an AGP version and a PCI-E version.

well that all depends, your not going to see much difference in your gfx if you go from 6800GT AGP to 6800GT PCI-E, now if you wanted sli and then later on got another 6800GT then you would have a bitching system. I just dont think that SLI offers that much of an improvement, your generaly going to get a good gameing experience with just one high end card like the X800XL or X850XT.

so, upon getting the sli board, you suggest i sell the 6800gt and buy an x800xl/x850xt? would i break about even (meaning would the ati card cost about as much as i could get for my 6800gt)?

it all depends on what your looking for. SLI is expencive. I really dont think its worth spending $400 on 6600GT's and $250 for an SLI board. when you could spend $150 on a mobo and $500 and get better performance. Now if your going to spend the $$ on 6800GT's or 6800U's then SLI has a lot more to offer but your cost just went from $400 for graphics to $750+

i've heard conflicting things about sli.... someone told me that sli wont work with ati cards and someplace else, i heard that it can. what's the truth?

SLI is nVidia only, ATI is devloping their own version that should be out later this summer. So you can use an ATI card on an SLImobo but you cannot use TWO ATI cards on an SLI mobo.
