Microsoft released Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 today, available via a download page. This beta is aimed squarely at Web site developers, but on Microsoft's IE8 blog, the company encourages anyone to try it out. Has anyone here on LR given this a try yet? Just curious!

Re: Microsoft released Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 today
No thanks I'm about to be beta testing Vista for them. I have 4GB of RAM on the way and XP Pro x64 has even less support than Vista x64.
Side note I read on a different blog that Windows Update doesn't work with IE8 because it's an unrecognized browser.

Re: Microsoft released Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 today
No thanks, I already blocked the download of IE7. I will stick with Firefox FTW!

Isn't Beta 3 released already? Oh wait... that's Firefox.

Re: Microsoft released Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 today
A guy here at work installed it and posted a big warning on our internal forums to tell people not to install it. He said it crashes all the time... sometimes it crashes just when he tries to launch it, and he also said that he has yet to get it to run longer than 3 minutes at a time before it crashes.

and the scroll is f***ed up, if i try to scroll down, it goes about 2 pages, then jumps to top
but the "Emulate IE7" seems to work fine for everything, and i have had no crashes
