My new toy!

Post by Tech_Greek »

So, I've been using my old HP Laptop as my work laptop even though the fan was busted on it, I just kept it underclocked.

Yesterday I finally came into some money so I decided to reward my self with something new! I have been eye balling the new HP silky feel laptops since they came out and I came across one and picked it up...special edition at that just like my old one but the fan works on this one.

It's BLAZING fast, even photoshop loads up almost instantly even with all my junk installed! The keyboard feels awesome and everything.

The only thing I was disappointed in was the display was running an Intel Duo proccesor with Intel 965P graphics...this one was an AMD TurionX2 with GeForce 7150 UMA graphics - I expected the GeForce to out perform the Intel in Windows Experience indexing (2.5 vs 3.1, the highest laptop I could find was a 3.3 and it was 2k dollars, hell no) but either way I haven't actually tried to game so maybe it will be faster...we'll see eventually hehe.

Anyway, I highly recommend this laptop, just be prepared for the LOADS of bloat ware they throw on it! lol

Very nice - I am curious as to the design also - is it one of those vinyl sticker type things or is it permanent?

It was actually the deal breaker on me buying a laptop from anyone else - sony, etc.

It's etched below the clear coat - yes, there's a clear coat on almost EVERYTHIG on this laptop which makes for the most awesome feel ever, its like having your cars paint after just being waxed smooth as ice all the time below your palms, fingers, etc - even the touch pad is soft and slick feeling.

I love it! I wouldn't ever go to any other laptop that doesnt have it, and thats why I didnt buy a Sony that I was eyeing, no softness to the palm area.

It's bronze and black which is cool, and the LED's are blue so when I go to tune my car it'll match my interior lighting and car color heehe.

i agree with you 100% tech_greek. i have a HP dv9618ca and its a beauty. i recommend it to everyone out there. its alright for gaming. it'll run new games like world in conflcit on good resolution (its a dx10 compatible game) but as for fps's its not the greatest. i have to turn the graphics down all the way to play call of duty modern warfare (its playable but could be better). i cant play games like ghost recon because you cant turn the resolution down completely (min is like 800 by 600).
