Best cooler fit for a GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L

Post by DX »

I'm going to be trying to max out on air a E6320. What fan/heatsink fits best? I might end up with Patriot Viper memory that have tall heatsinks. Has anyone with a GA-P35-DS3L got any suggestions so that I get the best performance in overclocking while not having to make major modifications to the heatsink.

If you have tall heatsinks, then your selection will be severely limited if you intend to fill all 4 memory slots. I put an Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 pro on a ds3l board with tall heatsinks (ocz reaper) and I had to move the ram to the 2nd and 4th banks, instead of the 1st and 3rd. Even then it was a bit tight. Not sure which coolers would fit better as I haven't tried others.

Square coolers will fit, you'll just have to rotate them to be ' | ' direction instead of the ' -- ' direction where they would interfere with your RAM.

The best air cooling to be found is the ThermalRight U120x, but that's a pretty penny.

I'm sure others will have better budget offerings to suggest.

I'll have tall ram and intend to use all four slots for 8gb. I have a concern about the chipset heatsink that is near the CPU and that it will interfere with most coolers. I don't have to worry though about hight of the cooler..... I wonder if I have to go to a liquid solution.

I've built 3 systems around the DS3L and I've never had an issue with the NB heatsink being in the way. The only issue I've had is with tall ram heatsinks.

Looks to me like that will clear the NB sink no sweat, although you may have a lack of clearance with the side of your case if you don't have a full tower. 8)
