World's Best Holes

Post by Apoptosis »

Awesome pictures... The one think I noticed is that one is the mine the drive to on Ice Road Truckers... They never showed the mine on TV, but it's impressive! I know at least Bubba will know what I'm talking about!
Diavik Diamond Mine, Canada
This incredible mine can be found 300km Northeast of Yellowknife in Canada. The mine is so huge and the area so remote that it even has its own airport with a runway large enough to accomodate a Boeing 737. it also looks equally as cool when the surrounding water is frozen.

Nope, the biggest hole we could make would just be about 18" across, granted it could a good 3-400 feet deep. They would use a machine like ours to go looking for it. Then they would bring in really big stuff to excavate the dirt for processing.

Something like this is use to haul out the material.

Hey, they showed that Ice Road Truckers on TV here a bit ago, only caught a couple of episodes but it was really interesting.

So nice to see what the big fuss was about.

But daymn, those are some big holes!
