Strange because someone on another forum who won one got it within a week. He said it came from ATI's Canadian office. It might be stuck at customs.

Because im as curious as anyone you'll see, lets get to disassembly :)

copper HS

Alluminum HS

fan assembly apart

HS comparison, the Copper one is muchh heavier, and the bottom part is slightly thicker also, <time of truth time>i am now led to assume that copper is used as the HS farth from the fan because of the difference in cooling capacity compared to the alluminum
Image

btw, i was very surprised to see a blank fan cover, i was assuming the eyes were gonna be looking at me when i opened the bag, but no eyes, i thought ATI's official version had them :-k

also, i have nothing to put this card into right now (cough: Kenc51 :cough) so you will all have to wait for my "Project X2" thread in the AMD forums, or mabie ATI forums, who knows

dude nice pictures! You took that thing apart more than I did!!

As for the picture on the card some of the newer ones I got don't have that sticker either...

Image

If you look really close that that 3870 X2 in the front you'll notice a Diamond Sticker, so that is the retail boxed Diamond Radeon HD 3870 X2 that they sent out so I could do Quad CrossFireX testing.
