ThermalTake Big Water 760i

Post by Sporg »

I saw an old post where NAiLs may have used this in a build. I read the review over at tweaknews. A friend of mine is looking at putting one of these into a case and was asking me questions. I haven't messed with water cooling and figured I would post here for advice.

He's running an Intel quad core and has had a heck of a time keeping things cool. Part of the problem is that he has an Asus Stryker board with all of those dang heat pipes running around the CPU area. Can't remember what HSF he has, but we had a heck of a time getting it to seat. Not much room to work in there with these stinking sausage fingers. He was looking at a TEC setup, but I haven't encouraged that with all of the problems people keep reporting.

He has a full tower TT Kandalf case and is thinking about going to an Armor case. Anyway, has anyone used one of these or have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies

Pull the door/beauty plate off you basically have an Armor case.

As for the 760i's ability to cool a quad, yes it can BUT it needs a good source of air to be better than stock temps.

Yeah, the cases are basically the same thing. I think he's got his eye on the new Armor version coming out that may include that water cooler.

I can't remember what HSF he's running, but it's not the stock one. He's had temp issues with his setup for a while now, and thinks he needs water cooling.

Thanks for your input.

The new armour case comes out with a better cooler than the 760i: see here

So if he does get that, then he should be fine with cooling a quad.

Yeah, I saw that it had the cooler, but didn't realize it was different. Guess that's what I get for skimming instead of reading.
