Verizon smartphones

Post by vicaphit »

I just ordered a Samsung SCH-i760 with my verizon plan. I have been mulling over this purchase for a week now. I wanted something that will have the email capablilities somewhere down the line when I am in a coverage area, and I also wanted Wi-Fi so I can check my email at work, and download drivers and updates at speeds faster than dialup.

So I found the phone on the verizon website, and they had the price as $299.99 with $50 MIR, and that is with my $50 discount for the "new every 2" program. I logged out of my account and looked into purchasing a new 2 year plan with the phone and they were giving a $100 discount for a new plan, so it was $249 plus $50 MIR. I thought, "Why give new customers a bigger discount when I have been with verizon for 4 years?"

I called verizon, and the woman helping me told me the total on the phone would be $199, plus $50 MIR... SCORE! I ordered right there.

I don't know why they gave me a total of $150 off, but it is awesome.

I ordered a 2 gig micro SD card from Newegg, and I will be really happy later this week!

I will also let you guys know what I think.

My contract is up in 4 months, and when you have gone 2 years you can do "new every 2". This generally gets you $50 off a new phone when you renew your 2 year contract. So yeah, you have to renew the contract.

If you end up renewing, just call Verizon and say you think its crap that new customers get a better deal :)!
