Safe temps
i get about 75ish C after 30min of full load, is this dangerous for my cpu? (this is temp without window open, and its still pretty cold so with the window open/case open temps go down about 10-15C), i did some testing for about 5H and nothing went wrong, but could it slowly be killing my cpu?

Re: Safe temps
yes, 75c is dangerously high. you chip will die within a year if you run it like that all day

Around or under 50C is what most of us would recommend!

Re: Safe temps
really :O, well maybe its the program im using? is core temp reliable? btw its about 52C idle now according to CT, ill try to lower the voltages as see what i get
, okay at 1.40V it became unstable, but seems like its good @ 1.416v, 42C idle ( i guess i overdid it with the vcore lol)

Re: Safe temps
What case do you have it in?
I'm already scared when my CPU reaches <60C, nevermind 70C...
I've found CoreTemp to be pretty reliable. Besides, it's better to err on the side of caution than suddenly find your processor dead because you've been running it 15C higher than reported.

Yes, imo Core Temp is one of the more reliable programs available. I typically use Core Temp, CPU-Z and HWMonitor to keep track of my systems.maj0r_pawnage wrote:really :O, well maybe its the program im using? is core temp reliable? btw its about 52C idle now according to CT, ill try to lower the voltages as see what i get, okay at 1.40V it became unstable, but seems like its good @ 1.416v, 42C idle ( i guess i overdid it with the vcore lol)
I shoot for no more than mid 30's idle, and no more than high 50's for full load temps. The system in my sig is currently running at 30c idle, 54c full load. Anything past 60c load is a red flag to me.
If you want that cpu to last, I would highly recommend you back off the overclock or rethink your cooling system.

Re: Safe temps
well its already lasted me a year, and I don't think anyone will want an e6300 in 2009, so i should get just the most outa it now?? well its idling @ 40ishC now with cold air blowing into the case... do you really think 60ish C is dangerous???(its been running for almost year at 60ish temps @ 3.2GHz... but yeah alota people are saying that 60C is the limit) would it be worth it to spend 60-70$ on a high end air cooler? i mean a e8400 can be found for the price of 2.5x aircoolers lolibleet wrote:Yes, imo Core Temp is one of the more reliable programs available. Re: Safe temps
I see your point. 60's should be ok, but 70's is suicide. After a year of those temps and still going strong, keep it up.
No, I wouldn't waste the money on a high-end cooler.
We're talking about the system in your sig, right? 3.51Ghz?

yeah the system in my sig, already have a $30 air cooler lol
guess ill have to tone down the OC in the summer lol, ambient temps will go up 20-30C from what they are now

and I don't think my mobo can go much over 500fsb so whats the point of buying a new cooler? only to preserve my e6300? :-/, and the mobo is only about 1mo old so i recently replaced the paste

Re: Safe temps
You should remount the cooler with new thermal paste.

Re: Safe temps
well for the time being i moved my bed over, so the comp is parallel to the window, and i pulled the curtain over the comp and tucked it behind my comp desk, so all the cold air is going straight down the curtain and into my comp lol, temps are down to 30-31C idle! from 56C when it was closed window!(and i lowered voltages down by one notch), and it isnt really that cold in my room D: (after i left it alone for about 5min temps were down to high 20s!, damn too bad winter is ending lol)Zertz wrote:You should remount the cooler with new thermal paste.
